Nothing. Keep the appointment, and don't move it on account of a missing parcel.
The technician doesn't need your router, and your router doesn't need the technician. They're two separate things that happen to land in the same week.
What the technician is actually doing
Their job is the fibre and the fibre box: running the cable in, fitting the box on your wall, and testing that the line works properly.
All of that happens whether or not there's a router sitting on the bench. They can confirm the connection is good at the wall, which is the part that needs someone with a ladder and a van.
What your router is for
Everything after the wall. It's what turns a working connection into Wi-Fi around the house.
It arrives by post, already set up for your connection, and setting it up is a two minute job you do yourself. Plug it into the fibre box, plug in the power, wait a few minutes.
Technicians don't set up routers, and there'd be nothing for them to do if they did. It genuinely is that simple.
So what happens if it's late?
The appointment goes ahead. The fibre gets installed. Your line is ready and waiting.
Then your router turns up, you plug it in, and you're online. You've lost nothing except a slightly annoying wait, which we know isn't much fun when everything else is ready to go.
There's genuinely no reason to move your appointment over a missing parcel. Getting the fibre in is the slow part, and once that's done you're one plug away from being online.
When should it turn up?
Usually 7 to 10 days from when you order. It ships ahead of your connection date so it's there waiting, and there's a tracking number so you can see where it's got to.
If it's been longer than that, or your connection date is close and there's still no sign of it, message us. We can see what's happened to it, and if it's genuinely gone astray we'll get another one moving rather than leaving you waiting on a parcel that isn't coming.
Can I use my own router in the meantime?
If you've got one that meets the requirements, yes, and it'll work as soon as the line is live. Have a look at Can I use my own modem or router with Plio? to check yours can handle it.
If it can't, don't spend your evening fighting with it. Wait for ours.
When does my billing start?
When your connection goes live, not when your router lands. If the line is working and you're waiting on the post, that's on us to sort out, not something you should be paying through.
